Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an experienced multi disciplined engineer to support the Submarine Test & Systems Engineering (STSE) group in Fleet Support and Naval Training. The STSE group provides hardware life-cycle support to deployed Maneuvering Area Team Trainers and Virtual trainers deployed at several Naval Submarine bases around the country and Guam as well as the Prototype Interactive Display Equipment (PIDE) trainers located on the Kesselring Site. These trainers provide the latest simulation technology in support of training our Nuclear Operators within the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. With the significant increase in simulation products being delivered to the Fleet, a corresponding increase in the amount of support for those trainers is required. STSE also performs testing on the training equipment for new software releases prior to deploying those releases to the Sites. STSE also develops and executes the test plan for new trainers.
A multi-disciplined engineering position is available to support the test programs for existing trainers and to develop and execute the test plan for the new upcoming trainers. This position also requires the candidate to support general mechanical or electrical engineering type projects that contribute to the life-cycle support of the trainers. Some travel to the submarine bases is required. Additional job details:
Perform engineering evaluations and analyses, and make engineering decisions for all aspects of assigned tasks.
Cognizant areas may include planning, designing, modeling, analyzing, documenting, and testing of nuclear, mechanical, structural or electrical components, systems and equipment and facilities.
Work may include chemical or materials evaluations, design reviews, operations support, safety analysis, engineering methods and software development, and analysis of vendor's procedures and systems for quality control or manufacturing surveillance.
BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of nine years relevant experience; or
MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of seven years relevant experience
Minimum of 10 years Naval Nuclear Program Experience
Navy submarine or carrier engineering department experience
Job Preferred Skills
Navy testing experience
Experience with Navy simulators
Use of TFS for configuration control and defect tracking
