The site power distribution and facility electrical systems are a critical area of the business with many opportunities for growth and improvement. The continuity of electrical service is recognized as an integral part of the Kesselring Site's ability to meet the mission of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. The Site Electrical Engineering organization is seeking an electrical engineer to fulfill the role of a Site Electrical Engineer.

Area of cognizance include the site power distribution system from the point of entry of the utility provider (high voltage systems) to the individual facility power distribution systems (low voltage systems).

Additionally back-up power systems (e.g. diesel generators and large uninterruptible power supplies) and systems that have automated process controls are also under the cognizance of the organization.

Typical responsibilities include: electrical design and software modeling, short circuit and arc flash analysis, field engineering, system and component maintenance/troubleshooting/repair, electrical drawing configuration control, and the preparation of technical work documents and specifications.

The individual will also perform engineering analysis and conditional assessments to improve system operation, reduce operational risk, and improve system reliability. Interface with other site and outside organizations (e.g. site operators, compliance organization, sourcing, outside vendors, etc.) will also be required.

Job Requirements

Advanced:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or
MS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience

Senior:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience ; or
MS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience

Job Preferred Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teaming skills
  • Working knowledge with electrical engineering software tools
  • Working knowledge with NFPA 70/70E
