Summary of Role\\:
GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab 8 is seeking highly skilled and motivated Materials Characterization technician to become part of our state-of-the-art facility in Malta, New York. Laboratory technician positions are shift positions (working alternating weeks of three and four 12-hour shifts each week). GLOBALFOUNDRIES is currently staffing for both day and night shift openings. This position will be required to have specialization in one or more of the following\\: Scanning Electron Microscopy Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy Laboratory instrumentation experience Materials Analysis/Characterization Essential Responsibilities\\:
Conduct routine analytical jobs using defined and documented procedures meeting or exceeding cycle time and quality standard expectations Interact with lab engineers & managers on defining analytical methods needed to achieve expected results, meeting expectations of analyses and interpretation of results Perform basic preventive maintenance activities of analytical equipment as needed and support maintenance activities with vendors as needed Assure smooth operation by minimizing stand-by and idle times Perform necessary sample preparation techniques to enable subsequent analyses to be conducted Use standard software applications for analytical job management and results reporting Identify and address potential areas for improvement and optimize tool availability, cycle time, utilization and cost Complete all required reporting and documentation Understand and follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and requirements Actively participate in continuous improvement processes Train new team members as requested

Required Qualifications\\: Education - 2 Year Technical/Associates Degree in a Science, Math, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Manufacturing or a related discipline or equivalent military training / experience Language Fluency ? Fluent in English Language ? written & verbal Physical Capacity Demands ? Able to follow work and safety procedures for laboratory environment. Preferred Qualifications\\: Experience in SEM, EDS, Materials Characterization . Experience in related characterization instrumentation\\: AES, XPS, SIMS, XRD Able to follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks and required documentation; demonstrate solid work performance in an environment requiring high level of attention to detail and timeliness Strong team member, able to work well with a global team, train new team members as needed and other duties as assigned; able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize activities Direct experience working in an analytical laboratory, preferably related to failure analysis, materials science, inorganic chemistry or semiconductor manufacturing would be an advantage Direct knowledge of one or more analysis methodologies used in materials analysis for state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing If you need a reasonable accommodation for any part of the employment process, please contact us by email at and let us know the nature of your request and your contact information.
