BEOL Integration Engineer-New College Grad

Summary of Role:

This position is for an experienced BEOLIntegration Engineer to be a part of a Process Integration engineeringteam participating in Advanced Technology Development and Manufacturingimplementation in GLOBALFOUNDRIES state of the art 300mm wafer fab (Fab8) inMalta, New York. Reporting to the Fab8 Advanced Technology Developmentmanagement team.

Essential Responsibilities:

The primaryresponsibility of this position is to Assess and Drive Mitigation of risk forNew Product designs and for Special Projects. The major risks being, defectgeneration, yield loss, degradation of performance, new tooling requirements,and project scope creep. All these factors are critical to New ProductIntroductions into Fab8 to meet GLOBALFOUNDRIES Customer technology roadmaprequirements.

  • Critically assess positive and negative interactions of design layout, technology design-rules and BEOL processes.
  • Critically assess positive and negative interactions of new technology elements, with current BEOL processes.
  • Assessment criteria include those listed above, plus influence on electrical or reliability performance.
  • Serve as a key member on the Fab8 review committees for Design rule waiver review, and Design Change review.
  • Interact successfully with external customers on technical subjects.
  • Candidates will be expected to work closely with yield, New Product Introduction, and Customer Engineering organizations to meet all customer technology and company cost and revenue goals
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
  • Required Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience:M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering or other relevant engineering or physical science discipline or related technical field
  • Fluency in English Language - written & verbal
  • Ability to relocate to Malta, NY.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering or other relevant engineering or physical science discipline or related field;
  • BEOL technology engineering experience in multiple process modules or process integration experience;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with different cultures
  • Experience in advanced technology (32nm node or below) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in developing advanced BEOL technology and ramp to high volume manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the interaction of BEOL process, design rules, interconnect performance and yield
  • Experience in BEOL Passive devices (VNCAP, APMOM, MIM, and Inductors)
  • Experience of defect detection and reduction.
  • Additional technical experience in Deep understanding of BEOL Process Assumptions, Design rules, Defect reduction, Testsite creation and validation, Chip Package Interaction, Wafer level Reliability failure models, process and performance Modeling. Understanding of the links between process limitations and Design Rules including topographical effects. Experience in transferring, implementing, ramping and sustaining process technologies in a high volume foundry manufacturing setting.
  • All candidates for this position must have strong capabilities in the design, execution, and analysis of experiments. In addition, all candidates must have proven project management, cross-functional leadership, communication and mentoring skills.
  • Fundamental understanding of unit process and integrated module interactions and their effect on electrical parametric (R-C), defectivity and manufacturability, yield and performance. Experience in designing process technologies to maximize electrical performance while achieving reliability requirements throughout the BEOL process flows and into Packaged Qualification.
  • Deep understanding of Design rules, Defect reduction, Testsite creation and validation, Chip Package Interaction, Wafer level Reliability failure models.
